Our Valentine’s Day…

This Valentine’s weekend we had over some girls from Isabel’s third grade class for a DANCE PARTY. It was fun, though maybe, in retrospect, the microphones were a bad idea.
It has become a tradition for us to have a “photo booth” at these kid parties. I find the kids just loosen up when there is no grown-up standing behind the camera. Give a kid a remote, and they will HAM IT UP. All you need is a tripod, two chairs, a wireless camera remote, and a themed tablecloth. I can always find the tablecloths at Target. I prefer cloth ones, but this year they only had a vinyl one… But I love how it came out.
This party was partly for the kids and partly to play with my camera. So, I took the opportunity to play with a new gadget I got for custom white balance – the ExpoDisc (I got the 82mm Portrait). I included the picture below because that’s what the white balance WOULD have looked like on “Auto.” That was the first day using it, so I’m sure I need a bit of practice, to perfect the art. But, as of now, I’m totally in love with that little gadget. No more yellow or green people! Of course, I also included that picture because just LOOK at Ryan – what a little heart breaker!

I love the results of the ExpoDisc! Especially the top photo! Her skin looks so creamy and clear!
Yeah – I need to figure out what I did differently in the top than middle picture. Because the second is not quite the right color, though still much better than “auto.”
Those pics came out great! Better watch out for that little heartbreaker.
Everyone looks smashing in these photos! Ryan is so handsome with his yellow tie and shirt.
Marilou, awesome idea! Love the remote pics…sounds like tons of fun.
