Has a book hangover.

I had big plans for a digital project last night, but got a bit side-tracked.
See, a few weeks ago, one of my best friends, Stephanie, posted her status on Facebook as: “Has a book hangover. You’d think she’d know better.” She had been reading Room, which be next on my list. (I read the Kindle preview and it is intriguing, but perhaps a bit too disturbing for me.)
Well, the past two nights I proved that I DO NOT LEARN from others or myself. The past two nights, I have been up until 2:30 in the morning reading these follow-up books to Fireflies in December
Cottonwood Whispers and Catching Moondrops. I don’t know why I HAD to finish them. I think the stories were just so engaging, and I loved the protagonist and her family. The books are set in rural Virginia around the 1936, and it’s just such a fascinating difference from Miami in the 2010s.
So, I’m sorry not to have that project for you, and I’m sorry my heads about to hit the keyboard. But it was so nice to spend that much time reading. I will have to lock up the Kindle for a week or two, though. I can’t keep this up! Totally dangerous that gadget is, but I love it (I steal my daughter’s every night).
I’m hoping for a nap this evening. And looking forward to a day off tomorrow (Teacher Planning Day). Still thinking about where to take Ryan, Isabel, and her friend. So excited.

found your blog thru a comment on Karen Russel’s blog (I hope someday soon to get to take one of her classes!) and just put these books on hold at my library! I love finding new books and authors to read so thanks for the recommendation!
