An Average Weekend (Sunday)

I bet you were wondering what happened to Sunday! Well, we took it easy Sunday, which we like to do. Got our homework done. Went to our usual lunch hotspot (Quizno’s).
Then, I decided I wanted to try something out. See, a while back I had a phone consulting session with my favorite photography teacher, Karen Russell. I asked her what I could do to improve my pool photos. She suggested the unthinkable. I could go INTO the pool with my camera. Now, this is not something I recommend – so don’t blame me for your drowned cameras. But since it was only Isabel in the pool (not my accident-prone six year old), I thought… “I’ll be really careful; this will be fun.”
I also thought it would be a great time to pull out these Story Cubes which I had recently bought. Story cubes are just prompts for story telling. They way we played with them was to roll all 9 of them dice, then tell a story using each of the objects in the pictures.
Isabel’s first story was 30 seconds, 2 sentences long. Her second story never ended.
Not even after her favorite pool toy – the red noodle – whacked her in the nose.
Ugh. Are you kidding me?! This girl is a photographer’s dream.
I have to say that I LOVE the perspective of these shots – being in the water with Isabel made a huge difference in the composition. Of course, I don’t love them enough to spend $2,000 on a waterproof camera case (okay, I really want one), but I definitely love them enough to try this again soon. Just not with Ryan in the pool. Sorry buddy. View all of Sunday’s pictures here.
