Isabel Plays in the Rain

Okay, so maybe I took these a month ago. What can I say?

These were Isabel’s 9th birthday portraits – taken on June 30th (I even TOOK them late, her birthday’s the 9th!). The delay in posting is largely because these are the first photos on which I used Erin Cobb’s Clean Color editing process. Overall, I love the results – I do need to speed things up in my execution of the editing (so it doesn’t take a month) and get more consistent. But enough about me.

Isabel is nine. She is way into the mystic readings of Percy Jackson and the Olympians (just finished the series) and Harry Potter (just started). She is moody, but mostly because she is sensitive – and that’s a good thing. She knows lyrics to songs that I didn’t even know she had heard (definitely, NOT on my watch). She is a master manipulator – playing the Justin Bieber song “Baby” loudly in her room to entice Ryan to join her – while she had to clean her room. Clever girl – takes after her mom in so many ways.

This is her last week at Girl Scout camp – Camp Mahachee. At the time of the photos she was at Camp Little House (still my favorite and, I think, hers). Her best friend is Ashley (this week). She is starting to take more care of herself – a phase which started shortly after this portrait session. She has learned about 10 new card games at camp and wants to play cards anytime, with anyone who is willing. She also learned finger weaving at camp and tried to teach me that. I’m not very good. (Last year it was pot holders. I’ll take finger weaving.) Isabel is so bright and fun and energetic. And I feel so lucky to have her! Here are some of the shots I took. For more, visit the gallery.

  • Super super cute! I love the last one here on your blog. Absolutely beautiful. It looks like she was having so much fun in all of the shots. There was one from your gallery of you shooting up at her that I love as well. What a beautiful girl you have 🙂

These were worth the wait:)! She’s a natural with the camera and it shows with every shot! Funny how you noticed her caring more about herself after that shoot. A young lady is blossoming! Great job Marilou!

  • Isabel is so beautiful. I am loving this age and seeing my own boy grow up a little more. So fun!

These are fantastic and so is your blog MLJ. Very impressed 🙂

I love these last two pics and really LOVE the pic of both of them in the diner (taken from the outside).
